The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is aromatic, fruity, woody and spicy. It expresses notes of ripe strawberry, roasted red cherry, morello cherry, fresh red currants, red currant jam, as well as notes of torrefaction (toasted hazelnut, toasted bread, a touch of coffee), toasted wood, sweet spices (cloves, white pepper, cumin) and a hint of licorice (or even star anise) in the background. There is also a touch of dried aromatic herbs and cornflower. On the palate, the wine is supple, silky and juicy. It offers fine and delicate tannins and a fresh and tangy fruity bouquet. It expresses the flavors of tangy bigarreau cherry, fresh raspberry, strawberry, fresh red currants and tangy blackcurrant, associated with herbaceous notes (fresh lemon thyme, a touch of blackcurrant leaf in the background), spicy (clove, white pepper, a hint of liquorice) and lightly smoked. The finish is persistent, with tangy notes of red cherry. A refined wine, with lots of freshness and lively acidity.
