The wine shows an intense ruby purple colour, vivid and youthful. The nose is dense and profound, revealing nuances of ripe black cherries, a touch of blackberries and bramble, a hint of thorn. The palate offers juicy, elevated acidity, ripe fruit concentration, still very elegant structure and bold, grippy, slightly drying tannins. The notes of dark berries dominate the palate, supported by nuances of tobacco and currant leaf, pencil shavings and tar. A “dark” style of Chinon. The tannins need time to smoothen. Very drying finish.
