Domaine du Bouscat – Caduce 2020, Bordeaux Supérieur

On the nose, fruity and offers intensity, pretty bright fruit as well as some richness (in balance and control), freshness, gourmandize and depth. It reveals notes of pulpy/sparkling wild blackcurrant, morello cherry and more lightly pulpy red berries combined with hints of camphor, cherry blossom, refined minerality, graphite, fine hints of bourbon vanilla, spice, bergamot, hazelnut and a discreet waft of gray pepper. On the palate, fruity and offers juiciness, gourmandize, richness (in balance/freshness), a nice pulpy/rich (but acidic/controlled) fruit as well as an airy character (in balance), a discreetly tight texture, density (in balance) and an acidic frame. The wine expresses juicy/acidic blackberry, morello cherry and slightly wild raspberry notes with hints of blueberry, bright berries and wafts of vanilla, lily, toast, tonka bean, discreet hints of cardamom, bergamot, toasted almond and a subtle touch of black pepper. Sapidity, gourmandize and a very discreet waft of cocoa bitterness (good bitterness) on the finish/persistence. The tannins are precise, elegant and finely mellow.
