Domaine de la Janasse 2018 – Châteauneuf-du-Pape

The nose is fruity and offers a good definition, a small intensity/power as well as a certain purity of the fruit and a beautiful fruit. It reveals notes of fleshy bigarreau cherry, bright blueberry, small notes of fleshy blackberry associated with fine touches of grey pepper, pink laurel, a very discreet hint of zan and an imperceptible hint of tonka bean/cardamom. The palate is elegant, beautifully defined and offers gourmandize, a very fine creaminess, a beautiful juiciness, freshness as well as a beautiful purity of the fruit, precision, a small aerial side and a beautiful finesse of the grain. On the palate this wine expresses notes of creamy redcurrant, bright bigarreau cherry, small notes of bright Boysen berry associated with touches of crushed strawberry as well as fine hints of cherry blossom, camphor, liquorice stick, discreet hints of black olive and a very discreet hint of rosemary (in the background). Tannins are elegant, fine. Good length. An imperceptible hint of grilled wood/roasted and cocoa on the persistence.
