Domaine de la Commanderie, La Vallée du Roi 2020 – Chinon

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is refined, complex and elegant. It expresses delicate notes of sweet spices (licorice, crushed coriander seeds, cumin, cloves, a subtle touch of toasted vanilla), flowers (violet, fresh rose, lilac), a herbaceous touch (wild mint, leaf blackcurrant, black tea with red fruits, a touch of fresh tobacco), as well as a beautiful refined fruity substance: notes of dried red cherry, juicy morello cherry, dried blackcurrant, wild blackberry, raspberry coulis and wooden strawberry. On the palate, the wine is airy and harmonious. It expresses notes of fresh blackcurrant, crushed blueberry, wild blackberry, morello cherry, dried red cherry, raspberry coulis and wild strawberry, combined with fine notes of sweet spices: coriander seeds, clove, licorice and vanilla (in the background), as well as delicate and enveloped notes of flowers (violet, fresh rose, dried rose petals) and herbs (blackcurrant leaf, tobacco, wild mint). The finish is tasty and persistent, full of finesse and freshness. The tannins are structured and fine. Beautiful salivating acidity and a touch of dried mint on the finish.
