Domaine Clos Romane, Côtes du Rhône 2021

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The first nose expresses smoky and meaty notes, which disappear after aeration. The wine then expresses soft, slightly sweet notes of red cherry jam, crème de cassis, redcurrant jam, dark chocolate, as well as notes of fresh fruit (morello cherry, red cherry, blackcurrant, black plum, blackberry), garrigue, aromatic herbs (bay leaf, thyme, rosemary) and an elegant floral note of elderflower. On the palate, the wine is juicy, open, with soft, fine tannins and a rich fruity bouquet. It reveals flavors of fresh blackcurrant, crème de cassis, red cherry, morello cherry, black plum, prunes, crushed strawberry, as well as dark chocolate, licorice, dried bouquet garni (bay leaf, thyme, rosemary) and an elegant note of peony. On the mid-palate, the wine is generous, ample, on the fruit. The finish is suave, persistent and a bit jammy, with a nice acidity and a sweet and fresh note of mint chocolate at the same time.
