Delectus – Cabernet Franc 2010 – Knights Valley – Sonoma

The nose is aromatic, ripe and offers power as well as a slight concentration. It reveals notes of dried blackberry, dried cassis and crushed wild strawberry combined with hints of cherry, dark chocolate, liquorice as well as subtle hints of coffee, subtle / discreet touches of mushroom (in the background), subtle touches of Sichuan pepper and a very discreet hint of oak / undergrowth (in the background). The palate is fruity, well-balanced, silky and offers gourmandise, a slight mineral frame, a slight gourmandise, a slight richness as well as a very slight unctuosity. On the palate this wine expresses notes of crushed fleshy blackberry, dried black cherry, dried cassis and slight touches of fleshy / juicy redcurrants combined with discreet / slight touches of liquorice, wood as well as subtle touches of chocolate, discreet hints of undergrowth, vanilla and an imperceptible touch of coconut. Tannins are fine and a bit firm. Good length and good persistence.
