Covert – Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 – Coombsville, Napa Valley

The nose is elegant and offers a beautiful grain as well as a slight concentration. It reveals notes of fleshy / juicy cassis and juicy wild blackberry combined with small notes of wild raspberry, juicy redcurrants as well as touches of liquorice, violet, Sichuan pepper as well as slight hints of blue fruits and a very discreet hint of nutmeg. The palate is fruity, juicy, well-balanced, very slightly tight (a bit tight structure) and offers a good definition, a very slight tension, a beautiful freshness, minerality, a beautiful juiciness, roundness, richness, density as well as suavity. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy cassis, juicy blueberry and small notes of juicy blackberry associated with touches of juicy cherry, juicy redcurrants as well as small hints of chocolate powder, spices, caramelization and discreet hints of hazelnut. Tannins are fine, a bit firm and a bit mellow. Good length. There are a hint of blueberry, dark chocolate, juicy raspberry and a hint of hazelnut on the persistence.
