Couquinho Superior – Vinho Branco 2016 – Douro

Couquinho Superior – Vinho Branco 2016 – Douro

The nose is fresh, fruity and offers a slight richness. It reveals notes of ripe lemon and crushed Granny Smith apple combined with slight / discreet hints of fresh zests as well as an imperceptible hint of olive tree. The palate is fruity, fresh, well-balanced, “perlante” (discreet sparkling sensation) and offers an acid frame, racy minerality, a good freshness as well as roundness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fresh lemon, Granny Smith fresh apple and fresh white peach associated with a very discreet touch of fresh clementine, exotic fruits (papaya, passion fruits) as well as subtle notes of pencil lead and a subtle hint of almond on the nish / persistence. Good length and good persistence.
