Col d’Orcia 2015 – Rosso di Montalcino

The nose is a bit tight and offers a slight concentration. It reveals notes of crunchy red fruits (red berries, cherry, raspberry) and small notes of blackberry associated with small hints of spices, gray pepper, small toasted hints, caramelized oak as well as an imperceptible touch of blond / sweet tobacco. The wine needs to be decanted. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, mineral, silky and offers a slight freshness, juiciness, a beautiful definition, a beautiful structure, tension, a nice finesse as well as fat and roundness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of ripe / crunchy red berries, cherry pit and small notes of blackberry associated with a hint of violet, cassis, liquorice stick as well as discreet hints of black olive, toasted oak and blond / sweet tobacco. Tannins are well-built. Beautiful gourmandise on the finish. Beautiful persistence.
