Clos Fourtet 2010 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, 1er Grand Cru Classé B

The nose is aromatic, finely tight and offers precision, power, deepness as well as a certain concentration. It reveals notes of wild blackberry, small ripe wild berries, small notes of violet/lily associated with fine touches of spices, Cuben pepper, small violet fruits as well as very discreet smoky hints, an imperceptible hint of tonka bean and underwood. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a fine acidulous frame, a good juiciness, gourmandize, fat, a small suavity, a beautiful finesse of the grain (finely tight), tension as well as a certain straightness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, fleshy/pulpy cassis, small notes of violet associated with touches of fleshy blueberry, juicy/fleshy plum as well as fine hints of caramelization and toasted almond. A hint of cocoa on the finish/persistence. A very fine iodine hint on the finish.
