Clos de la Madeleine 2017 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Grand Cru Classé

The nose is elegant, fine, racy and offers a fine grain, a small racy minerality and a fine power. It reveals notes of juicy/ripe cassis, blackberry and small notes of juicy/ripe strawberry associated with touches of Cuben pepper, Bourbon vanilla, tea, nutmeg as well as very discreet/imperceptible hints of caramelization. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, fresh, mineral and offers a good definition, a beautiful suavity, a fine grain, roundness, an acidulous frame as well as a small tension. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy/fleshy blackberry, fleshy/juicy strawberry and small notes of fleshy/ripe cassis associated with fine touches of blueberry, small black fruits, hints of vanilla, toasted, cardamom as well as a fine hint of tonka bean and toasted almond. Tannins are elegant and well-built. Good length and persistence.
