Chateau Thuerry – L’Exception 2017 – IGP Coteaux du Verdon

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot

The wine shows a medium ruby colour with a slight garnet tinge. The nose is slightly muted, will benefit from aeration. Later it opens up with notes of black cherries, black plums and blackberries with plenty of pungent spices in the background. The palate is juicy and round with refreshing acidity, good fruit concentration and bold, grippy, drying tannins that do not seem to smoothen with ageing. The notes of black fruits on the palate mirror the nose, adding to them a touch of balsamic and graphite. A slightly rustic wine with a serious tannic grip that stays in the palate for minutes.
