Château Tertre Roteboeuf 2021 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

The nose is elegant and reveals delicacy in its racy power, black fruit, complexity and an imperceptible hint of almost candied/fresh fruit. There are notes of roasted red berries, blackberry and more lightly ripe berries combined with a fine touch of almost candied blackcurrant, hints of the sense of place (local biotop), almost a discreet hint of aromatic herbs, fresh thyme as well as subtle hints of spice, toast and fresh tobacco. The palate is fruity, balanced and offers freshness, minerality, precision, tension, definition, gourmandize, a hint of roasted fruit, a discreet candied note (but fresh), complexity and a nice multi-layered character. On the palate this wine expresses notes of roasted cherry, fairly ripe red berry and more lightly violet combined with hints of blond tobacco, a sense of place as well as fine points of pulpy/juicy violet plum, liquorice stick as well as a subtle hint of black olive, graphite and discrete toasted/caramelised notes. The tannins are elegant, racy and mellow. Good length. Subtle salinity in the background/almost iodine, a subtle touch of black tea. The wine with a great future that will surprise us!
