Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2018 – Pessac-Léognan, Grand Cru Classé de Graves

The nose is aromatic, elegant and offers a beautiful definition, gourmandize, a beautiful grain as well as power (full of finesse and delicacy). It reveals notes of fleshy blackberry, crushed cassis, small notes of pulpy/juicy plum associated with touches of crushed strawberry as well as hints of small toasted berries, cardamom, vanilla pod, a very discreet hint of pepper, mild tobacco and an imperceptible hint of incense. The palate is elegant, full of finesse, well-balanced, aerial and offers juiciness, gourmandize (full of subtility), delicacy and a fine acidulous frame. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry, pulpy cassis, small notes of small blue fruits associated with touches of crushed raspberry, pulpy/bright redcurrant as well as fine hints of toasted, sugared mild tobacco, cardamom, a very discreet hint of caramelized hazelnut, lilac, cornflower and an imperceptible hint of badiane (in the background). A superb length/persistence. A beautiful wine.
