Château Pédesclaux 2020, Grand Cru Classé en 1855 – Pauillac

The wine has a deep ruby color with purplish reflections. The nose offers precision, freshness and concentration. It expresses notes of fresh crushed blackcurrant, morello cherry, wild strawberry, blueberry, wild blackberry, red cherry jam, wild plum, associated with notes of mint chocolate, licorice (see star anise), grated nutmeg, vanilla, chocolate prunes, as well as a touch of caramelized hazelnut, roasted coconut (in the background), dried rose and violet. The palate offers controlled power, an enveloping fruity substance and a persistent and tasty finish, all in harmony and finesse. We find notes of morello cherry, red cherry jam, wild strawberry, wild plum, fresh blackcurrant and blackberry, associated with notes of cut wild mint, menthol, chocolate cherry, licorice, toasted vanilla, cumin and cloves, as well as a touch of pine needles, violet and fresh cornflower. The tannins are velvety, silky and enveloping. The finish is gourmand and fragrant, with lots of fruit, sweet spices and a fine hint of chocolate. Beautiful acidity which refreshes the whole. A harmonious, complex and deep wine.
