Château Meyney  2016 – Saint-Estèphe

The nose is fine, fresh, concentrated (but well-balanced) and offers a slight gourmandise. It reveals notes of ripe morello cherry, fresh/ripe blackberry and slight notes of fresh/ripe strawberry associated with a discreet hint of raspberry, slight notes of licorice as well as a discreet hint of grey pepper and a subtle woody hint. The palate is fruity, juicy, well-balanced and offers fat, a slight freshness, a good racy minerality, a slight gourmandise, a slight unctuosity, a beautiful structure as well as a good volume. It’s powerful, concentrated but (very) well-balanced. A beautiful and well-structured wine. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of fresh/ripe blackberry, cassis and slight notes of wild strawberry, hot gravels (terroir) associated with hints of redcurrant, oak, spices as well as slight notes of licorice stick and a discreet hint of coffee. Tannins are fine and polished. Good length. A beautiful wine!
