Château Mangot, Todeschini – Distique 13, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

Château Mangot, Todeschini – Distique 13, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

On the nose, elegant, nicely conducted and offers power (in delicacy), a nice fleshiness of the fruit as well as gourmandise. It reveals notes of bursting blackcurrant, boysenberry and more lightly small bursting fruits combined with hints of crushed raspberry as well as touches of blueberry, lily, star anise, a delicate waft of vanilla bean, spices, an imperceptible hint of herbs/sage, discrete tip of black tea and tonka bean. On the palate, fruity and offers delicacy, gourmandise, an airy character in the balances, control of the material as well as of the pulp/material, a fine creaminess, freshness and an acidic frame. The wine expresses notes of bright boysenberry, blackcurrant and more slightly blueberry associated with touches of pulpy currant, lily, a discreet hint of lilac, star anise, nutmeg as well as subtle wafts of black tea, bourbon vanilla, sense of terroir (dry Mediterranean barrier) and very discreet hints of tonka bean. The tannins are precise, elegant, fine and delicate. A little chewiness on the finish/persistence. The finish is tightening up. A very nice wine all in harmony, delicacy and power (with delicacy).
