Château Malartic Lagravière 2021 – Pessac-Léognan Grand Cru Classé de Graves

The nose is beautifully conducted, elegant, delicate, racy and reveals complexity with finesse, power with delicacy and harmony. There are notes of bright boysenberry, strawberry and slightly camphor combined with hints of ripe blackcurrant/almost a discreet roasted hint, fine hints of ripe blue berries, liquorice as well as subtle hints of bourbon vanilla and a subtle hint of bergamot. The palate is nicely conducted, balanced and reveals a very nice acidity, a nice pulpy/acidic fruit, smoothness, acidity, delicacy, a nice airiness as well as subtlety in the power. On the palate this wine expresses bright boysenberry, blueberry and more lightly roasted cherry notes combined with delicate notes of fairly ripe red berries, racy gravel (terroir), pencil lead as well as fine notes of cardamom, tonka bean and an imperceptible hint of toasted almond. Some mellowness on the finish/persistence. The tannins are lovely, fresh, elegant and delicate. Lovely harmony. A wine of great finesse and delicacy.
