Château Léoville Poyferré 2005 – Saint-Julien, 2nd Grand Cru Classé

The nose is elegant, delicate, precisely built / balanced and offers a beautiful definition, a fine power as well as a beautiful finesse of the grain. It reveals notes of ripe cassis, dried strawberry and small notes of blackberry associated with touches of crushed raspberry, very discreet hints of flowers, spices, cardamom as well as a very discreet hint of nutmeg, animal and pepper. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, elegant and offers a good definition, a beautiful finesse, a beautiful delicacy, minerality, freshness, tension, deepness, a fine richness, a fine fat as well as a fine acidulous frame. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of wild strawberries, cassis and small notes of acidulous redcurrants associated with fine touches of blackberry, violet, a very discreet hint of chocolate, minerality as well as a subtle hint of nutmeg, spices, cloves and an imperceptible mineral hint. Tannins are elegant, well defined and precise.
