Château Léoville-Barton 2007 – Saint-Julien, 2ème Grand Cru Classé

The nose is beautifully elegant, fond and offers a beautiful finesse of the grain as well as a flattering side. It reveals notes of ripe cassis, ripe raspberry and small notes of ripe berries associated with fine touches of tonka bean / mocha, sweet spices, a subtle hint of caramelization as well as a very discreet hint of warm spices and undergrowth. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers an acidulous frame, precision, fine tension, juiciness, suavity, a good racy minerality, a good definition, gourmandize as well as a small freshness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy / fleshy cassis, juicy/ripe raspberry and small notes of juicy / ripe blackberry associated with fine touches of undergrowth, chocolate, toasted, cardamom as well as a subtle hint of Bourbon vanilla. Tannins are elegant. A very fine chew on the finish. Good persistence.
