Château Larrivet Haut-Brion 2021 – Pessac-Léognan

The nose is elegant and reveals a controlled/racy power. There are notes of wild blackberry, ripe black berries and a hint of graphite combined with hints of violet, lily, mocha, pepper and a very discreet hint of toast and mineral. The palate is fruity, fresh and offers juiciness, minerality, a juicy/pulpy structure, acidity, fine fluidity, nice definition, salinity/sapidity, tension, purity of fruit, some chalkiness as well as density and a fine infusion. An airiness in the approach/balances. On the palate this wine expresses notes of small crushed dark berries, blackcurrant and more slightly bergamot combined with touches of fairly ripe raspberry, a hint of almost roasted red berries, violet, discrete hints of cardamom as well as a subtle touch of graphite, toast, tonka bean and toasted almond. A fine smoky edge in the background. Nice acidity on the finish/persistence. Good length.
