Château Lafon-Rochet 2016  – Saint-Estèphe, 4ème Grand Cru Classé

The nose is fruity, fresh, aromatic, voluptuous and offers a slight gourmandise as well as a slight racy power. It reveals notes of fresh cassis and a hint of flowers, wild strawberry associated with discreet woody hints as well as a subtle hint of gray pepper and very discreet hints of spices/nutmeg. The palate is fruity, mineral, fresh, aerial and offers a beautiful racy mineral frame, a beautiful terroir expression, a good structure, a beautiful finesse, a slight suavity, tension, a beautiful straightness/guideline. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of juicy/ripe blackberry and slight notes of strawberry, fresh/ripe raspberry associated with discreet hints of caramelized oak, licorice stick as well as a very discreet hint of mocha and nutmeg on the finish. Tannins are fine and slightly chewy. Good length. There is a very discreet hint of hazelnut and dark chocolate on the aftertaste. A wine with a great potential! (2026-2040). It’s a monster of finesse which hide well its powerful.
