Château Lacour Jacquet 2020 – Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgois

Beautiful deep ruby color. On the nose, the wine initially expresses meaty and roasted notes which disappear after aeration. We then find the aromas of fresh wild strawberries, crushed garriguette strawberries, red cherries, morello cherries, crushed blackcurrants, as well as a tangy touch of blood orange. On the second nose, the wine also expresses fresh notes of menthol and fresh and roasted aromatic herbs (thyme, cut rosemary), associated with a fine smoky, toasted and spicy side (star anise, clove). On the palate, the wine offers lots of fruit and juiciness. We find the flavors of crunchy morello cherry, roasted red cherry, wild strawberry, crushed blackcurrant and red currant, combined with spicy (clove, a hint of cumin) and herbaceous notes (thyme, rosemary, bay leaf, mint). The tannin structure is straight and firm, but silky. The finish is persistent, fruity and juicy, slightly chocolatey, with a beautiful freshness of herbaceous notes, a salivating acidity and a slight bitterness.
