Château Haut-Beyzac 2020 – Haut-Médoc, Cru Bourgeois

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The first nose is warm, savoury, spicy and expresses notes of sweet heated spices (licorice stick, cloves, pepper seeds, coriander seeds), as well as roasted bouquet garni, dried mint, as well as a woody side (smokiness, toasted wood) and liquorice in the background. Then, we smell notes of ripe fruit (griotte, wild black plum, blackcurrant, wild strawberry, prune cream, morello cherry jam), combined with a sweet hint of chocolate cherry, caramel and peony. On the palate, the wine is concentrated, with sapidity, straightness and a generous fruitiness, associated with a pronounced spicy side. It expresses the flavors of morello cherry, blackcurrant, wild plum, wild strawberry, morello cherry jam, combined with notes of vanilla, licorice, nutmeg, cloves, as well as floral touches (violet, rose), herbaceous (fresh tobacco, pine needles) and a savory side, a little sweet with cocoa and mint chocolate in the background. The finish is long and sapid, with notes of chocolate cherry, sweet spices and a good level of acidity. The tannins are enveloped and fine. A wine with substance and structure.
