Château Haut-Bailly 2020 – Pessac-Léognan

The nose is fruity, fresh, elegant, airy and offers a nice power, freshness, delicacy, a certain depth as well as concentration. It reveals notes of boysenberry, fresh raspberry and slight pepper associated with touches of spices, pepper, a slight hint of fresh blond tobacco as well as a discreet hint of nutmeg and star anise. The palate is fruity, balanced and offers a fresh/tangy frame, good definition, tension, a nice velvety touch as well as gourmandise. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry, bright blue berries and slight notes of small crisp/tangy red berries associated with touches of flowers, lilies, violets as well as hints of racy minerality / iodised gravels as well as slight hints of sweet blond tobacco, liquorice/star anise and very discreet hints of toast/caramel. The tannins are supple, elegant, precise and structured. Nice elegance, especially on the finish. Delicacy and some softness in the finish.
