Château Fonplegade 2010 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Grand Cru Classé

The nose is fruity, elegant and offers a certain straightness, a small deepness as well as a fine grain. It reveals notes of small black berries, strawberry and small notes of violet associated with touches of ripe/juicy cassis as well as hints of sweet spices, nutmeg, fresh tobacco, a subtle hint of lily, Cuben pepper and an imperceptible hint of Badiane. The palate is fruity, fresh, mineral, well-balanced, racy and offers an acidulous frame, finesse, justness as well as a beautiful finesse of the fat and an almost aery sensation. On the palate this wine expresses notes of dry wild cassis, crushed blackberry and small notes of quite ripe berries associated with touches of quite ripe raspberry, nutmeg, cardamom, spices as well as a very discreet hint of tobacco, an imperceptible hint of camphor (in the background) and pepper. Tannins are fine, precise and well-built. Good length.
