Château D’Etroyes – Le Clos L’Evêque 2018 – Mercurey Premier Cru

The nose is fruity and offers gourmandize, richness as well as delicacy, a certain deepness and density. It reveals notes of crushed Boysen berry, fleshy raspberry, small notes of crushed cassis associated with small touches of plum, violet as well as fine hints of chocolate, vanilla pod and a fine hint of toasted hazelnut. The palate is beautifully gourmand, silky, racy and offers a small fat, a pulpy/generous side on the fruit as well as a fine acidulous frame, a fine minerality and a small freshness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy cassis, juicy questch plum, small notes of crushed strawberry associated with touches of chocolate, fine touches of pulpy/bright blueberry as well as fine hints of vanilla pod, toasted hazelnut and a very discreet hint of graphite. An imperceptible saline/sapid hint on the persistence. Tannins are well-built. A wine that combines gourmandize, generosity full of elegance and precision.
