Château d’Agassac 2016 – Haut-Médoc, Cru Bourgeois

The nose is aromatic, elegant and offers a good finesse of the grain as well as a very fine intensity. It reveals notes of blackberry, wild strawberry and more slightly wild/ripe small red berries associated with a touch of ripe cherry/griotte, hints of liquorice as well as very discreet hints of graphite, Cuben pepper and a subtle hint of Bourbon vanilla. The palate is fruity, mineral, well-balanced, well-built and offers freshness, a good definition, juiciness, a small tension/straightness, suavity as well as a fine acidulous frame. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, fleshy/ripe wild raspberry and more slightly fleshy/ripe small red berries associated with a touch of wild strawberry, cassis as well as a hint of cornflower, liquorice and a very discreet hint of nutmeg (in the background). Tannins are well-built and elegant. Good length. There is an imperceptible hint of toasted almond on the persistence.
