Château Chauvin 2021 – Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

The nose is elegant, complex, aromatic and reveals a certain depth as well as a fine freshness. There are notes of pulpy blackberry, blackcurrant and, more slightly, pulpy/acidic redcurrants combined with fine touches of blueberry, star anise and a subtle hint of blueberry, a discreet sapiness and sweet spices. The palate is fruity, balanced and reveals juiciness, smoothness, a mineral/acidic framework, nice definition, delicacy, finesse and a fine airiness in the approach. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackcurrant, boysenberry and more slightly pulpy raspberry combined with hints of small tart/pulpy plums, small red berries, lily, a discreet hint of peony, star anise and a subtle touch of camphor and toastiness. The tannins are precise, elegant and sapid. Nice definition, freshness, minerality and suppleness in the mouth. A fine hint of chocolate in the background.
