Château Canon-La-Gaffelière 2010 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Premier Grand Cru Classé

The nose is fruity, elegant and offers a certain controlled power as well as complexity. It reveals notes of cassis, small wild black berries and small notes of violet associated with touches of strawberry, blueberry, dry leaf, underwood as well as very fine hints of tonka bean, a discreet hint of Badiane and Sichuan pepper. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers an acidulous frame, minerality, a good definition, juiciness, a fine grain as well as density/deepness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy cassis, quite ripe blueberry and quite ripe wild strawberry associated with touches of juicy violet plum, tonka bean, iris, lily as well as very fine hints of underwood, tonka bean and toasted almond/chocolate. An imperceptible hint of truffle/hazelnut on the persistence.
