Château Beychevelle 2021 – Saint-Julien

Château Beychevelle 2021 – Saint-Julien

The nose is fruity, revealing pulpiness, a nice definition/fleshiness of the fruit and a certain purity. There are notes of pulpy raspberry, fleshy/juicy black cherry and, more slightly, fairly ripe strawberry associated with fine touches of redcurrant as well as discreet hints of blond tobacco, blueberry, liquorice, a subtle hint of sap, and a fine touch of graphite and toastiness. The palate is fresh, mineral, elegant, focused and offers tension, linearity, an almost ethereal approach, an infusion, an acidic structure, juiciness, purity of fruit, and a discreet chalkiness. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy raspberry, fresh/very ripe cherry and, more slightly, blackcurrant, combined with fine touches of violet, graphite, as well as fine hints of bright blue berries, discreet hints of star anise, bergamot and toasted/vanilla. The tannins are chalky, elegant and gourmet. Good length. Nice sapidity/salinity, especially on the finish.
