Château Bellevue-Cardon 2020 – Pauillac

Château Bellevue-Cardon 2020 – Pauillac

The wine has a deep ruby color. The nose is fruity and gourmand: it expresses notes of ripe red fruits (griotte, blackcurrant, wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, blackberry, red cherry jam), associated with savoury aromas of sweet spices (roasted vanilla, cinnamon, clove, licorice), roasting (toasted wood), dark chocolate, as well as delicate floral (violet, rose), herbaceous and resinous notes (dried mint, blackcurrant leaf, pine needles), as welle as a mineral touch in the background. The palate is delicious, round, juicy and savoury. We first find distinct woody and spicy notes (toasted oak, toasted vanilla, clove, a hint of vanilla and coconut). It then expresses notes of fresh morello cherry, wild strawberry, red cherry, redcurrant jelly, raspberry coulis, blackcurrant and blueberry, as well as a floral touch (violet, rose petals), herbaceous (blackcurrant bud, wild mint) and resinous notes (pine needles, pine sap). The tannins are powerful, a little bitter and grainy (especially on attack), but balanced by a lively acidity. The finish is quite persistent, chiseled, but fruity and gourmand.
