Caymus – Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 – Special Selection – Napa Valley

Caymus – Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 – Special Selection – Napa Valley

The nose is fine, aromatic, powerful, complex and quite concentrated. It reveals notes of cassis, blackberry and fine notes of strawberry, fleshy crushed redcurrants combined with slight touches of Zan, sweet spices, a discreet touch of tobacco, a touch of Sichuan pepper as well as a subtle touch of Bourbon vanilla (in the background), slight hints of caramelization and an imperceptible hint of almond (in the background). The wine needs to be decanted. The palate is fruity, beautifully well-balanced, silky, fine and offers suavity, a good definition, a beautiful guideline, a good density, a very slight tension, a slight minerality, an acid frame, complexity, a beautiful density, richness as well as finesse. On the palate this wine expresses notes of crushed fleshy boysenberry, cassis and slight touches of black cherry associated with a hint of crushed fleshy raspberry as well as subtle touches of liquorice, toasted oak and a very discreet hint of almond. Tannins are fine, elegant, well-built and very slightly firm. Good length and persistence. There are a discreet hint of dark chocolate and a very discreet hint of coffee on the persistence. There is a very discreet touch of hazelnut on the aftertaste. An outstanding wine!
