Castorani Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Cadetto 2018

Castorani Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Cadetto 2018

The nose is fruity, racy, concentrated and juicy. There are notes of crushed blackcurrant, bright bigarreau cherry and, more slightly, crushed blackberry with fine touches of crushed redcurrant as well as discreet hints of plum blossom, violet and a subtle hint of olive. The palate is fruity, juicy, acidic, well-defined, tense, airy and well-guided. On the palate this wine expresses notes of tart/juicy bigarreau cherry, pulpy/acidic plum and more lightly acidic raspberry combined with touches of bright black berries and fine hints of star anise and a subtle almost balsamic edge in the background, black olive, good work on the discrete bitterness in the background. The tannins are supple and elegant. Good length.
