Camille Giroud, Volnay Les Lurets Premier Cru 2021 – Volnay Premier Cru

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is aromatic, slightly smoky. After aeration it expresses notes of tangy red fruits (red cherry, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, a hint of morello cherry) and a fragrant spiciness (clove, nutmeg, licorice), associated with floral notes (dried rose, fresh peony, cornflower), with a touch of fresh tobacco and a refreshing hint of wild mint. On the palate, the wine is chiselled, tangy and lively, with lots of freshness and salivating acidity. It expresses notes of wild strawberry, red currant, raspberry coulis, juicy red cherry and morello cherry, combined with a floral bouquet (peony, rose, cornflower), as well as a hint of toasted hazelnut and sweet spices (nutmeg, cloves, a touch of licorice). The tannins are soft and sapid. A gourmand and refined wine, with a long finish, savoury and juicy, slightly smoky and spicy.
