Camille Giroud – Les Crais 2018 – Gevrey-Chambertin

The nose is elegant, racy and offers a beautiful deepness, a beautiful finesse of the grain and a small dense side. This wine should be decanted. It reveals notes of blackberry, grilled hazelnut, small notes of grilled bread, nutmeg, a discreet hint of saffron, camphor, a subtle hint of vanilla and an imperceptible hint of pepper (in the background). The palate is fruity, well-balanced, racy and offers sweetness/delicacy, a small suavity, tension, finesse, straightness as well as freshness, a certain complexity and an acidulous frame. On the palate this wine expresses notes of ripe cassis, violet, small notes of fleshy/juicy raspberry associated with small touches of grilled bread, saffron, hazelnut as well as fine hints of pepper (in the background) and an imperceptible hint of dark chocolate (in the background). Tannins are precise, slightly firm and elegant. Good length.
