Calmel Joseph, Les Sept Puits -2017, Saint-Chinian

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity with slight garnet reflections. The nose is delicate and of medium intensity. There are notes of red cherry, chocolate morello cherry, red plum, raspberry, and garnet. On the second nose, the wine expresses herbaceous notes (thyme, wild mint, peppermint, rosemary, and bay leaf), as well as touches of sweet spices (cloves, liquorice, nutmeg). On the palate, the attack is expressive, with notes of small red fruits (currant, cranberries, tart red cherry), spices (white pepper, clove), herbs, and dried flowers (bay leaf, thyme, dried rose, dried mint). At the end of the mouth, meaty and smoky notes appear. The wine has a medium body, medium (+) acidity, and a long finish with flavours of red fruits, smoke and pepper. The tannins are slightly tight, of a medium (+) level and remain on the finish. A wine with complexity, concentration and a firm structure.
