Cain Five 2012 – Napa Valley

Cain Five 2012 – Napa Valley

The nose is fruity, racy and offers a slight concentration as well as depthness. It reveals notes of cassis, wild berries and slight touches of ripe raspberry associated with a subtle hint of grove, tarweed as well as a very discreet touch of gray pepper (in the background), racy minerality (almost saline), quite supple and an imperceptible hint of mint (in the background). The palate is fruity, well-balanced, well-built and offers a slight straightness, a slight unctuosity, freshness, silky, suavity as well as a beautiful acid frame. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, fleshy raspberry and small notes of black berries, cassis associated with a slight touch of black cherry, with slight hints of forest soil, tarweed, a very discreet hint of liquorice, chocolate (on the finish) as well as subtle hints of blond tobacco and caramelization. Tannins are well-built, a bit firm and medium size. There are subtle hints of mocha on the persistence.
