Bouchard Père & Fils – Clos de la Mousse 2018, Monopole – Beaune, Premier Cru

The nose is all in delicacy and offers racy power, accuracy, a certain intensity as well as deepness. The wine beneficiates from being decanted. It reveals notes of fresh purple plum, rose/lilac, and more slightly – notes of fresh/crunchy strawberry associated with touches of juicy cherry as well as hints of nutmeg, cardamom, vanilla pod, and discreet hints of fresh blond tobacco. The mouth is well-built, all in finesse/delicacy and offers accuracy, gourmandize, suavity, a nice sapidity, fullness, a nice balance as well as silkiness. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy/pulpy blackberry, juicy/pulpy cherry, and more slightly – hints of bright raspberry associated with touches of violet, purple plum, and lilac as well as slight hints of clove, cardamom, sweet spices, and Bourbon vanilla. The tannins are supple and elegant. A very discreet hint of pepper in the finish. Nice gormand and creamy persistence.
