Balthus 2016 – Bordeaux Supérieur

The nose is aromatic, fresh, fine, powerful / captivating and offers a beautiful structure / finesse. It reveals notes of coffee, blackberry and fine notes of fresh strawberry, fresh raspberry, minerality associated with a discreet hint of fresh / ripe cassis as well as a very discreet hint of flowers (in the background) and chocolate. The nose needs time to open. The mouth is fruity, juicy, well-balanced, frank, straight and offers tension, a nice acid frame, a beautiful finesse, a melodious side, a nice delicacy and a nice fat. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of crushed blackberry, ripe / fresh blueberry and strawberry associated with hints of chocolate, wood, a subtle hint of raspberry as well as a discreet hint of cardamom and a discreet toasted hint / sweet spices. Tannins are fine and offers a good integration. Good length and beautiful persistence.
