Arnaux & Fils, Vieux Clocher – Symphonie des Galets 2016 – Châteauneuf-du-Pape

The nose is fruity, aromatic, racy, very discreetly tight and offers power/concentration, a fine grain and a small intensity. It reveals notes of wild cassis, small wild blue berries, small notes of crunchy wild raspberry associated with fine touches of crushed bigarreau cherry, violet, rose, pink laurel as well as fine hints of cuben pepper, mild tobacco and discreet hints of cardamom. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a beautiful acidulous frame, a racy minerality, a fine sapidity, an imperceptible iodine hint as well as a small suavity, juiciness and a fine grain. On the palate this wine expresses notes of bright wild cassis, small pulpy wild berries, small notes of bright raspberry associated with small touches of pink laurel, a subtle hint of vanilla, bigarreau cherry, discreet hints of dry local copse, toasted, chocolate and a subtle hint of caramelization. Tannins are well-built. A very fine firmness on the finish/persistence.
