The Percée du Vin Jaune makes its grand return to Lons-le-Saunier in 2026
An emblematic event of the Jura vineyard centred on the 2019 vintage
After a year’s pause, the Percée du Vin Jaune makes its long-awaited return in 2026, once again taking place in Lons-le-Saunier, the capital of the Jura, for a highly anticipated 27th edition. From 31 January to 1 February, the city will live to the rhythm of this flagship wine event of the Jura vineyard, celebrating the ceremonial tapping of the 2019 vintage, the result of 6 years and 3 months of ageing under flor. Ten years after its last visit to Lons-le-Saunier, the Percée thus reconnects with a territory deeply rooted in its history and identity.
Nestled between plains and vineyard slopes, Lons-le-Saunier occupies a central position at the heart of the Jura’s major appellations, from Château-Chalon to Arbois, via L’Étoile and Côtes du Jura. This symbolic setting provides an ideal backdrop for the celebration of Vin Jaune, a singular wine made from Savagnin and shaped by a long and demanding ageing process. Over three days, the Jura capital will be transformed into a vast space of tasting and conviviality, animated by winemakers, brotherhoods, brass bands and visitors from across France.
The 2026 edition will spotlight the 2019 vintage, described as a vintage of resilience. Marked by episodes of spring frost and summer heatwaves, it delivered modest yields, around 25 hectolitres per hectare, yet a quality considered exceptional. The wines stand out for their freshness, precision and balance, heralding a Vin Jaune with strong ageing potential, both straight and finely chiselled. The Percée will mark the moment when this long labour of patience is finally revealed to the public.
Beyond the wine itself, the Percée du Vin Jaune has established itself as one of France’s major wine tourism events. The 2026 programme combines tradition and innovation, with the official tapping ceremony, tastings in the cellars, musical entertainment, culinary competitions and key gastronomic highlights. A holistic sensory experience is also on offer, bringing together gastronomy, art and heritage to showcase the full richness of the Jura region. Driven by the commitment of hundreds of volunteers, the Percée du Vin Jaune remains a moment of sharing and transmission, bringing together winemakers, local residents and knowledgeable enthusiasts. In 2026, in Lons-le-Saunier, the event more than ever intends to celebrate the identity of the Jura, its savoir-faire, and its ability to transform the constraints of time and climate into exceptional wines.
