Monsupello presents the New Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut
A look to the future
With an unprecedented style in the glass – from aromas recalling oriental spices and citrus to a vibrant, taut palate – Monsupello’s new 100% Pinot Noir Metodo Classico marks an important milestone for the Boatti family. Born on the most vocated hillsides of the Oltrepò Pavese, the Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut was unveiled in preview at the 2025 Merano Wine Festival, together with the short film Future is our Heritage, directed by Carlo Guttadauro: two different languages united in a single narrative of time, continuity, and vision.

“This is a project we deeply care about,” say Carla, Laura, and Pierangelo Boatti, “because it captures our idea of Pinot Noir: purity, elegance, and territorial identity. In this wine there is respect for time, for the raw material, and for the balance between tradition and experimentation.”
Produced in about 10,000 bottles, the Blanc de Noirs comes from meticulously selected vineyards and bears the signature of Chef de Cave Pierangelo Boatti, who interprets the complexity of Pinot Noir with rigor and finesse. The debut of the cuvée was accompanied by the screening of Future is our Heritage, a visual tale celebrating the patience of Metodo Classico as a metaphor for life. The film features Pierangelo and Laura Boatti along with Carla Dallera Boatti; images of vineyard and cellar work blend with the powerful voice of Sherrita Duran, culminating in the family’s final embrace on the steps of the Santuario della Passione in Torricella Verzate.
Monsupello: identity, family, and terroir
Founded in 1893 in Oliva Gessi and now active also in Torricella Verzate, Monsupello embodies more than 130 years of winemaking history in the Oltrepò Pavese. Its modern evolution is closely tied to Carlo Boatti, who from the 1950s onward selected the most vocated vineyards, introduced technical precision, and gave the winery an international outlook, supported by his life and business partner Carla Dallera Boatti. After his passing, “la Carla” has remained a guiding presence, safeguarding a style built on coherence, authenticity, and respect for the land.
Today the winery is led by Pierangelo and Laura Boatti, the fifth generation of the family. They are supported by a team of oenologists and agronomists who combine expertise, experimentation, and stylistic continuity. The 50 hectares of vineyards between Oliva Gessi and Torricella Verzate form the heart of production: carefully chosen parcels, sustainable cultivation, low yields, and one guiding principle — time as a tool for quality.

The Oltrepò hills, located along the 45th parallel, offer clay and tufaceous limestone soils, constant ventilation, and significant day-night temperature shifts that foster freshness, elegance, and definition in the wines. Alongside production quality, Monsupello also promotes social sustainability through “Sprigionato,” a symbolic wine born from a project involving inmates and students of the Voghera prison: a harvest as an act of redemption, a wine as a vehicle for freedom.
Today the winery produces eight Metodo Classico sparkling wines — about 170,000 bottles per year — alongside a selection of still wines totaling around 150,000 bottles. Each label expresses a clear philosophy: elegance, balance, and distinct identity. This is the Monsupello style — a contemporary voice of the Oltrepò Pavese.
