HAPPY (GREAT) WINES
Château d’Arsac is located in Margaux wine area. It is one of the oldest winery of the Médoc as the Seigneury of Arsac already existed during the XII century. Several owners, including Michel’s brother, Thomas de Montaigne, managed the estate. In 1986, Philippe Raoux bought the Château d’Arsac which was in a very poor state : it counted only 3 hectares of vines which lost the Margaux AOC, abandoned cellars and the house was a chicken coop ! Can you imagine ?
Philippe Raoux saw what nobody has : the extraordinary potential of this estate. After years of renovations and legal battles, the property regained its glory with 113 hectares including a 54 hectares vineyard in Margaux appellation. The Château d’Arsac was promoted as Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in 2020 and was confirmed in 2025 again. Moreover, the winery has a breathtaking modern art collection : it is definitely bringing an extra-special something.
Loïc Le Bozec arrived at the winery in 2017 as vineyard manager and did, with the team, an incredible work to change the cultural practices in order to minimise the chemical residues : the estate is certified HVE3. This young but talented oenologist became Technical Director in 2022 and he pursues now the vision of Philippe Raoux who sadly passed away in 2023. Château d’Arsac was once a ruin. Now, like the phoenix it has reborn into a marvellous property. The aim is to produce smooth concentrated wines with structure at a good price : goal reached ! The range of wines is for every moment of consumption and to please every taste. Obviously you will be pleased with Château d’Arsac – Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in Margaux. But you can also discover Château Le Monteil d’Arsac – Cru Bourgeois in Haut-Médoc, Cuvée Céline in Bordeaux Blanc and Cuvée Scooter in Bordeaux Rosé. The labels and the packaging have been changed to add a touch of modernity. But the energetic Château d’Arsac doesn’t focus only on the wines ! The winery has got 200 olive trees and is producing olive oil. The wine tourism is highly dynamic : you can come and discover the art collection but you can even get married here ! Moreover, the «Happy Wine » events which is like a white party full of fun and wines is rocking the summer. Also, the team is also trying to get closer from its consumers thanks to direct sales and wine exhibitions.
Château d’Arsac is a perfect exemple of how to never gave up on life’s challenges. And we need such positivity in Bordeaux right now.
Thanks to Loïc Le Bozec for his time and dedication
