The Baux-de-Provence PDO celebrates its thirtieth anniversary

An anniversary day in the heart of the Alpilles massif

The Baux-de-Provence AOP invites the public to celebrate its thirty years of existence by highlighting the deep connection between the terroir and the stone of Baux-de-Provence. This unique mineral setting resonates with the founding values of the appellation and underlines its attachment to the land, respect for life, and its collective commitment to organic viticulture.

The 12 estates of the Baux-de-Provence AOP invite the public to an anniversary day. The event will celebrate thirty years of commitment to the terroir and the region through tastings, workshops, artistic activities, and convivial moments around food and wine pairings showcasing the red, white, and rosé wines of the appellation.

A program structured around three major themes

1. A Terroir, a Vision
The appellation offers various activities to showcase the commitments and philosophy of the estates of this PDO, which will become 100% organic in 2023.

The Knowledge Workshops will offer several approaches:

  • Masterclasses led by renowned professionals will focus on tasting the great whites and reds of the PDO. A tasting of older red vintages will also be offered, providing a journey through the history of the PDO.
  • Meetings with other local producers, such as olive oil producers from Les Baux-de-Provence, highlighting the importance of mixed farming in the region.
  • A series of fun, participatory talks and debates will be offered alternately throughout the day. The talks will focus on understanding and addressing the challenges of climate change; The lively debates will invite visitors to deconstruct preconceived notions about wine through an experience that encourages listening, a change of perspective, and discussion.
  • Workshops on biodynamics offered by the appellation’s winemakers

2. Baux-de-Provence, an inspiring region

Artists have always made their home in the Alpilles, a hidden and authentic Provence that has inspired them to write and paint… just as the AOP winemakers also draw inspiration from the terroir to create their works… Visitors will be able to participate in painting workshops and other artistic activities.

3. Tasting and food and wine pairings
The 12 estates of the appellation will welcome visitors to taste their delicious reds, elegant whites, and sparkling rosés, all certified 100% organic. It will also be a special opportunity to interact with the winemakers and better understand their work.

The event will also feature local food and drink to be enjoyed on-site. A wine bar will offer the option of purchasing glasses of the appellation to accompany local dishes. These plates will showcase local products, such as Camargue bull or Alpilles lamb. As a final touch, visitors will be able to enjoy artisanal ice cream, including an exclusive “rosé des Baux” flavor.
