Champagne Bollinger, 1st house certified “Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne“
CHAMPAGNE BOLLINGER, first house to obtain for his vineyard the certification “Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne“
Champagne Committee launched May 12, 2014 a new technical benchmark for sustainable viticulture that offers champagne farms to obtain environmental certifications adapted to the specificity of the AOC Champagne (read more). This certification is based on regulatory issues but also on voluntary commitments concerning the viticultural practices of growers and houses of Champagne vineyard management, plant protection, fertilization,soil maintenance, waste management, preservation of landscapeand biodiversity.
“The Vineyard Bollinger, in his sense of respect for the environment, wanted to contribute to this momentum. June 23, 2014 after a complete audit of the 125 requirements, the certification body Ocacia could demonstrate compliance with the new standards by Bollinger.”
Jérôme Philipon, CEO, welcomes the Vineyard Bollinger is the first certified operation “Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne.”
“Champagne Bollinger gives its support to this ambitious improvement process initiated by the Interprofessional Champagne. In addition to the HVE certification, this new champagne certification rewards the efforts of Bollinger in terms of environmental and landscape conservation, particularly in the application of Champagne at UNESCO.”
In the vineyard Bollinger, commitment to sustainable viticulture and respect of the environment has increased over the years,resulting in many actions:
- In place since 2010 a Tender demanding, both on the finalquality of the grapes on the means used to obtain it
- Realization in 2010 Bilan Carbone ® company
- Reduction in the consumption of herbicide -85% in 5 yearswith weed plots and mechanical weeding
- Obtaining in 2012 the High Value Environmental certification (HVE), making the first Bollinger Champagne House Trading in France can claim this distinction.
