Mouton Cadet launches Cuvée Angélique, the first release in its ‘Cuvée Vigneron’ collection
Mouton Cadet is shining a spotlight on the people behind its wines with the launch of ‘Cuvée Vigneron’, a new limited-edition collection. For its inaugural release, the Bordeaux brand celebrates Angélique Ossard, a winegrower based in Saint-Vivien-de-Monségur in southern Gironde.
A Mouton Cadet partner for nearly fifteen years, Angélique Ossard is the third generation of a Bordeaux winegrowing family. She has been cultivating vines at Saint-Vivien-de-Monségur for more than twenty-five years and now farms a 29-hectare estate. Driven by a strong commitment to the land and the environment, she chose to convert the property to organic viticulture, a demanding process carried out with the support of Mouton Cadet’s technical teams. That long-standing relationship now takes on a new dimension with Cuvée Angélique with Mouton Cadet, the first wine in the ‘Cuvée Vigneron’ collection. The initiative is designed to highlight the personalities, terroirs and expertise of the community of growers working with the brand.
An organic Merlot from clay-limestone soils
Produced from a selection of the finest plots in Angélique Ossard’s vineyard, Cuvée Angélique is a 100% Merlot, organic and vegan red from the area’s characteristic clay-limestone soils. The wine is conceived around fruit expression and freshness, with ripe black-fruit notes and subtle spicy nuances. Mouton Cadet also describes hints of vanilla, hazelnut and sweet spice, leading to a generous palate in which fresh fruit is complemented by delicate tannins.
The project also carries an environmental dimension. Bottled directly at the estate, Cuvée Angélique is presented in an ultra-lightweight, eco-designed bottle with a compensated carbon footprint, an initiative described by Mouton Cadet as a first in France. The release forms part of Mouton Cadet’s broader model of collaboration with its winegrower community. The brand’s technical team of seven oenologists works alongside growers from vineyard management through to vinification. Since the 2022 vintage, Mouton Cadet Rouge has also carried Fair for Life certification, covering measures including multi-year contracts, personalised support, fair remuneration for growers, sustainable viticultural practices and greater transparency for consumers.
A limited release of 6,000 bottles
Cuvée Angélique with Mouton Cadet is a numbered limited edition of just 6,000 bottles. It is available from September exclusively at Monoprix, with a recommended retail price of €12.90 per 75cl bottle. A limited e-commerce offer is also planned through Vinatis.com.
With this first ‘Cuvée Vigneron’ release, Mouton Cadet is putting a face and a story behind the label, giving greater visibility to the growers who form its community and contribute to the identity of its wines.
