Château de Rayne Vigneau 2024 – Sauternes – Barsac

The nose appears closed at first, but after aeration offers a toasted and spicy nuance (toasted hazelnut, vanilla) and a good bitterness of citrus fruits (grapefruit, bitter orange) and chestnut honey. There are also notes of mango, yellow peach, crushed apricot, pineapple in syrup, candied lemon peel, as well as lemon yogurt, acacia flowers, apple tree and linden. The palate offers density, complexity and an oily and enveloping texture. It expresses notes of peach in syrup, pineapple in syrup, apricot jam, candied lemon peel, grapefruit jam and bitter orange, as well as chestnut honey which bring a good persistent bitterness on the finish. We also find flavors of lemon cream, toasted hazelnut, pastry, vanilla and toasted hazelnut in the background. A rich, dense and fleshy wine, with a nice balance thanks to a pleasant bitterness and a good level of acidity.
