With 800 participants and 5,640 glasses served across four events, the sixth edition of the Monza Wine Experience solidifies its role as a new benchmark for the Italian public in the fine wine sector.
From November 15 to 17, the city welcomed wine enthusiasts from across the country, confirming the success of a unique event that offered tastings of some of Italy’s finest labels. Highlights included 50 prestigious wines at Villa Reale, exclusive Masterclasses, and the star-studded *Cena d’Autore* (Author’s Dinner).
The immense public success drew 300 people to Monza’s Villa Reale for “Excellence in the Villa”, a walk-around tasting featuring Italy’s most renowned wines, rated between 90 and 100 points by international wine critics, with a total of 3,600 glasses poured. At Calici sotto le Stelle (“Glasses Under the Stars”), 300 attendees crowded Via Bergamo, tasting over 1,000 glasses of wine. Meanwhile, the Masterclass “The Great Reserves of Brunello di Montalcino” sold out, with Aldo Fiordelli—Senior Editor for James Suckling in Italy—guiding 40 guests through some of the most celebrated labels of this appellation, including:
– Poggio All’Oro Riserva 2016 by Banfi,
– Tenuta Greppo 2018 by Biondi Santi,
– Pianrosso Riserva 2012 by Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona,
– Poggio di Sotto 2019 by Collemassari,
– Madonna delle Grazie 2019 by Il Marroneto, and
– Le Lucére Riserva 2019 by San Filippo.
The Cena d’Autore was also a sell-out success. This iconic event welcomed some of Italy’s most renowned chefs, featuring Andrea Berton*, Stefano Ciabarri*, Lorenzo Sacchi*, and Fabio Silva, with desserts crafted by the APEI association of Iginio Massari. However, the highlight was solidarity: part of the proceeds was donated to the La Meridiana social cooperative.
“The success of the sixth edition confirms that we are on the right track to making Monza Wine Experience the leading hub for Fine Wine in Italy,” explains Samantha Ceccardi of Visionplus, the event’s organizer. “What sets us apart from other events is that Monza Wine Experience offers the best possible quality, but it is not by invitation only or reserved exclusively for industry professionals. All wine lovers can participate, and I am confident this approach will position us as a true Italian hub for fine wines.”
“Today, the wine world often reflects on its accessibility,” shares Aldo Fiordelli, Senior Editor for James Suckling, who participated in the event. “The dedication of the producers, the Villa Reale, and the Monza Wine Experience has achieved precisely this: the event made accessible some rare Italian wines that are usually sold only through allocations at very high prices. I believe this is a success for the event because, despite the growing frequency of wine events, it has created a gathering with a distinct identity.”
